2015 Women of Influence Awards
This event took place in the heart of Auckland CBD at Westpac’s head office. We heard from the inspiring DawieOlivers, Westpac’s Chief Information Officer, and his team on what they do at Westpac and their focus on the importnace of diversity of thought.

Damian is currently Senior Manager of Card Ops and Business Support, a role he’s taken as a one year secondment from his role as Westpac’s SME Lead where he was responsible for the bank’s small to medium enterprise segment. He has worked in a range of departments from strategy, mortgages, operations, to front line banking and started his career in IT recruitment. He has worked in the United States, Japan, and Europe, and is a graduate of the University of Otago and Victoria University.As chair of Westpac NZ’s EQUAL Employee Action Group, Damian has been instrumental in supporting the group’s overall agenda to ensure there are equal opportunities for women and men throughout Westpac.
Philippa works in Technology at Westpac and is currently the Acting Director of Testing, after originally joining the organisation as Practice Manager for Testing Services. Previous to her roles at Westpac she has worked for a variety of organisations including Spark, Alcatel-Lucent and Nat West Corporate Bank. She currently has 82 direct reports and has more than eight years experience managing geographically dispersed teams – sometimes in different time zones. Among her interests, Philippa says she gets a lot out of helping people achieve their career aspirations through coaching, mentoring and offering sound advice based on experience.
Angela has spent the past 15 years establishing and managing enterprise Portfolio and PMO offices within business and technology divisions across international financial services organisations and national utilities. With over 12 years spent in the United Kingdom where she has worked in large International banks supporting banking integrations.
Angela is currently the Head of PMO and The Change COE for Westpac NZ where she is leading a team of over 50 staff within Technology. Prior to joining Westpac she worked as the IS Portfolio Manager for Water care Services Limited and has lived and worked in London where she ran two large PMO teams, one for the full banking integration of two large UK banks – HBOS and Lloyds TSB and one BAU team for the running of Service Delivery in Group IT. Angela holds a Bachelor of Arts in Politics and a Post Graduate Diploma in Social Policy, she is married to Malcolm and has a young daughter
